Description générale

L'Estimateur en chef sera responsable de la recherche, l'analyse, l'estimation et le transfert des dossiers gagnés aux Chargés de Projet pour tous les types de projets que l'entreprise est en mesure de livré. Nous désirons prendre de l'expansion dans de nouveaux secteurs d'activités et accroître notre compte client commercial. L'Estimateur en chef aura une grande latitude décisionnel et participera activement à la gestion des activités de livraison de projet.

Rôles et responsabilités

Principales tâches et responsabilités:

  • Faire la recherche de projet arrimés avec nos critères de sélection en utilisant les sites de sollicitations pour la région de la capital national;
  • Assister aux réunions de coordination, visite de chantier afin de mieux évaluer la complexité du projet à estimer;
  • Participer aux visites de projet en soumission lors d’appel d’offre;
  • Analyser les plans et devis afin d’avoir une vision globale du projet;
  • Organiser les réunions d’équipe pour la sélection des projets à soumissionner;
  • Prendre charge des projets en soumission jusqu’au dépôt;
  • Lecture des plans et devis pour calculer les quantités des matériaux et main d’œuvre "Take-Off";
  • Estimer les coûts indirects, évaluer les risques et les méthodes de construction;
  • Vérifier les cahiers de charge;
  • Établir les coûts pour l’ensemble des divisions de construction;
  • Établir la liste des spécialistes, les matériaux, sous-traitants et fournisseurs susceptible de rendre votre estimé compétitive;
  • Faire les invitations à soumissionner auprès des sous-traitants et fournisseurs via la salle de plan virtuelle;
  • Traiter les addendas et en faire la distribution aux différents intervenants;
  • Analyser et négocier les soumissions des fournisseurs et sous-traitants en assurant leur conformité aux exigences du projet;
  • Préparer et déposer les soumissions;
  • Participer à la fermeture des soumissions et faire le suivi des résultats;
  • Préparation des budgets de construction et prévision pour chaque projet;
  • Suggérer et monétiser des alternatives aux documents de soumission afin de réduire les coûts de construction des projets soumissionnés lorsqu’applicable;
  • Faire les demandes de gage et cautionnements auprès des assureurs;
  • Élaborer les conditions générales d’un projet et participer à la réunion de transfert à l’équipe de projet;
  • Assurer la transmission de toute la documentation relative au projet à l’équipe de construction;

Aptitudes et compétences recherchées

  • Forte aptitude en lecture de plan et interprétation des devis;
  • Connaissance en excavation, démolition, coffrage et des systèmes intérieurs;
  • Connaissance des logiciels ‘’Estimateur général, Acomba, Excel et Word;
  • Connaissance du code du bâtiment (un atout);
  • Avoir un esprit entrepreneurial et passionné de la construction;
  • Autonome et sens des responsabilités;
  • Comprend bien l’importance des délais prescrit et prêt à mettre le temps pour fermer les soumissions;
  • Excellente capacité d’apprentissage, facilité à travailler en équipe et proactif;
  • Avoir un esprit critique et apte à travailler sous pression;

Études et expérience

  • Posséder un diplôme d’étude Universitaire en Estimation/Évaluation, en Génie Civil, Ingénierie ou Architecture;
  • Posséder un minimum de cinq (5) années d’expérience pertinente dans le domaine de la construction commercial et institutionnel;
  • Être parfaitement bilingue écrit et parlé;

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the bid process while building strong relationships with sub-trades and manufacturing representatives
  • Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build in a methodical and systematic manner
  • Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders, and assisting the buy-out process
  • Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern, and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
  • Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders, specifically sub-trade contractors and manufacturing representatives

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate/Senior experience working in construction estimating or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • You have a working knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
  • Experience on capable of working on conceptual estimates with minimal information on ICI, civil, and design-build projects
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, scope narratives, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. is essential

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.=

  • Extensive experience managing contracts and claims, dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation and litigation.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts.
  • Advanced understanding of contractual, financial and project controls.
  • Exceptional relationship, communication, facilitation, negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in dealing with complex negotiations.

Overview / Job Summary

As a Senior Cost Consultant and a vital part of the leadership team at Postma Quantity Surveying you will be reporting to the Director of Cost Consulting and will be responsible for completing class D, B, C and A estimates. Additionally, you will assist the Senior Project Monitor in completing site inspections, assisting in the valuation of contractor’s progress claims, and reviewing relevant loan documentation to ensure the requirements of the loan agreement are being met.

  • Train and mentor junior staff with quantity surveying and conceptual estimating
